Realife Cooperative of Owatonna is a resident‑owned senior housing community designed for independent living. Our members collectively own the cooperative, which owns and maintains the property. This cooperative model provides stability, predictability, and a strong sense of community.

At Realife Cooperative of Owatonna, membership begins with a one‑time purchase of a share in the cooperative. The cooperative holds title to the property and manages all operating expenses. Members pay a monthly charge that covers their share of those costs and grants them the right to occupy their private home.

The monthly payment covers the cooperative’s mortgage, real estate taxes, operating expenses, maintenance, heat, garbage service, and cable. This approach helps keep housing costs predictable and eliminates many of the unexpected expenses associated with traditional homeownership.

Monthly charges are set by the Realife Cooperative of Owatonna Board of Directors, which is made up of fellow members. Fees are based on the annual operating budget and the long‑term needs of the cooperative, including reserve planning.

Maintenance at Realife Cooperative of Owatonna is coordinated by on‑site office staff. Repairs are handled by our maintenance team or trusted outside vendors. All work is scheduled at the member’s convenience, and all billing is managed through the cooperative—so members don’t have to worry about arranging or paying for repairs separately.

The cooperative is governed by a Board of Directors elected from among the membership. Members have a voice in decisions that affect the community, including budgets, policies, and board leadership.
